Welcome New Parishioners!
Would you like to have the Priest come and bless your new home? If you are interested, please talk to your parish visitor and he/she will help you arrange for this blessing! You can also just call the parish office!
Scheduling a Baptism
Please contact Mark to register for your child’s Baptism or if you have questions about the sacrament and the preparation process. In preparation for Baptism, parents are asked to make the following arrangements:
Register their child for the sacrament of Baptism and arrange for a time to meet with the Pastoral Associate (that’s Mark!) to review the Baptismal rite and necessary preparation. The date of the Baptism will be discussed at this meeting.
Select one or two godparents. At least one of the godparents must be a practicing Catholic.
Parents are required to attend a Baptismal preparation class prior to the Baptism.
The time to discuss and reflect on a relationship is before the wedding and a marriage preparation course is required if being married in a Catholic Church. In preparation for Marriage, a minimum of 6 months advance notice, preferably one year, is required. Marriage Preparation Guidelines will be emailed to you at that time and information taken regarding your wedding plans.
Please contact our Pastoral Associate, Mark Mahoney, to discuss funeral arrangements. Mark will sit with family members to answer all questions and ensure that all details are organized and in place.
The Cathy Kennedy Lending Library
Many of us enjoy reading good Christian books but buying them all would be a little expensive. To meet this need, just off the foyer of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, you will find the Cathy Kennedy Lending Library. This is a wonderful collection of books that have, over the years, grown from a ‘place’ and into a ministry. People dealing with difficult experiences of life, like the loss of a spouse or a wayward teen, will often look for a book. For others, the right book with a Biblical perspective may help them through a tough part of life’s journey. No matter the reason that someone might be looking for a good book, our library is open the same hours as the parish office (Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and we would love to have you come by for a visit!
Shawls have been made for centuries and are a symbol of an unconditionally loving God. The shawl makers offer prayers and blessings for the recipient while knitting and/or crocheting and upon completion, the shawl is given a final blessing by Fr Phil or Fr Charlie. These lovely shawls can be of great comfort to those undergoing medical procedures, after a loss or in times of stress, during bereavement, prayer or meditation, commitment or marriage ceremonies, birthing, nursing a baby, bridal shower or wedding gift, during an illness or while in recovery, ministering to others, etc – there are endless possibilities! The group gets together on the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Dan Bohan Centre. A wonderful evening of fellowship and friendship, while they work on prayer shawls and prayer cloths.
