The Cathy Kennedy Lending Library

Many of us enjoy reading good Christian books but buying them all would be a little expensive.  To meet this need, just off the foyer of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, you will find the Cathy Kennedy Lending Library.  This is a wonderful collection of books that have, over the years, grown from a ‘place’ and into a ministry.  People dealing with difficult experiences of life, like the loss of a spouse or a wayward teen, will often look for a book.  For others, the right book with a Biblical perspective may help them through a tough part of life’s journey.  No matter the reason that someone might be looking for a good book, our library is open the same hours as the parish office which is Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday noon, in the summer) and we would love to have you come by for a visit!

Prayer Shawls

Shawls have been made for centuries and are a symbol of an unconditionally loving God.  The shawl makers offer prayers and blessings for the recipient while knitting and/or crocheting and upon completion, the shawl is given a final blessing by Fr Phil or Fr Charlie.  These lovely shawls can be of great comfort to those undergoing medical procedures, after a loss or in times of stress, during bereavement, prayer or meditation, commitment or marriage ceremonies, birthing, nursing a baby, bridal shower or wedding gift, during an illness or while in recovery, ministering to others, etc – there are endless possibilities!  The group gets together on the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Dan Bohan Centre.  A wonderful evening of fellowship and friendship, while they work on prayer shawls and prayer cloths.
